Hi, I’m
Joan, owner and founder of Super Mutts Mobile and Drive to Succeed
Mobile Productions, “A Look Inside Mobile Grooming”
DVD series. I want to share with you some of my background
and experience.
I have worked for
myself for most of my life. I attended court reporting school
for four years and then started a medical/legal transcribing business,
which I owned and operated successfully for five years. I
have always enjoyed working independently, although, I knew that
working on the computer all day wasn’t what I wanted to do
forever.
One day while walking
outside of my home, I noticed a mobile dog grooming van. I
stopped right in my tracks and just stared at it for the longest time.
I wasn’t sure why, but I was very intrigued. I
thought, “What a great business!”

A few weeks later my daughter and I were
discussing her career goals and I was pleasantly surprised to hear her
say she wanted to be a dog groomer. I said, “why
don’t you try Mobile – in fact, I said, I would
love to do it with you!” After all, dogs, cats,
horses and a myriad of other pets have always been a big part of our
lives, so it was a natural choice. She agreed that it was a
great idea, and then we got busy! |
We started with making
our list of goals and intentions. First we ordered several
sets of instructional grooming DVDs, studied them, and then we set out
to get our practical experience. We volunteered at a local
shelter and then assisted a local groomer in her shop for about six
months. Next we took a certification course and got certified
as professional groomers. Not only did we love working with
dogs and grooming, we proved to have a natural affinity for it!
Armed with a positive
attitude, along with some planning, preparation, and practice, the
business resources showed up right when we needed them to.
Our planning paid off and everything came together.
We put together our
business plan; bought our beautiful Wag’n Tails van, and we
hit the bricks rollin’! We were booked up within 2-3
months! Our customers and dogs love us; mobile grooming has
proven to be a rewarding career choice, AND Super Mutts Mobile paid our
salaries and start-up costs immediately.
Now we want to share
our business experience and grooming expertise with you! A
Look Inside Mobile Grooming DVD series will give you a peek into our
daily routine. As you ride along with us, we’ll
show you the ins and outs of mobile grooming. You will learn
valuable information on how to start and market your business, as well
as professional grooming techniques on several popular breeds
(including cats!).
There’s a
high demand for mobile groomers; the word has spread: People LOVE the
convenience and care of mobile grooming. We come to them in
our self-contained grooming salon. Their dog is in and out
within an hour; there’s no cage drying, or transportation, or
long hours in the salon while being exposed to other possibly sickly or
stressed dogs. Customers are eager to pay the extra cost
involved for mobile grooming for their beloved Pets. In

– free advertising!
